Elder found dead at home in Livorno, the former caregiver and his partner in handcuffs

A couple was arrested for the murder of a 94-year-old in Livorno. The elderly man was found lifeless on 27 August in the house in the Garibaldi area, in Livorno, by the 118 health workers. Rescue was called by the son who did not receive any answers from his father to his insistent phone calls. The local prosecutor, who directed the investigations, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Livorno Company and of the Livorno Investigative Unit executed a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Gip of the local Court against a man and a woman living together, held responsible for the voluntary homicide, aggravated robbery and aggravated theft. The preliminary examination carried out on the spot by the coroner and the traces found by the military immediately provided confirmation of the violent death of the 94-year-old killed, according to investigators, by a woman, who had already assisted the elderly as a caregiver in the past, and by his cohabiting partner. The two, taking advantage of the close relationship of confidence and affective nature with the victim, on the afternoon of last August 27, immobilized him and then killed him, breaking the small box hidden behind the bathroom mirror that the two knew how to contain jewels and money. Probably the cause of death was a traumatic event that could have led to the death of the old man from Livorno due to asphyxiation. The two were brought respectively to the Livorno Prison and to the women’s section of the Pisa one.
