Tragic accident today during the 41st rally of the Reggiano Apennines, where a car went off the road causing the death of two young spectators. The episode took place today around 10 am in Riverzana between the municipalities of San Polo d’Enza and Canossa, on a straight section of the circuit. According to an initial reconstruction of the dynamics, during the race a crew aboard a Peugeot 208, for reasons still being examined by the carabinieri, lost control of the vehicle when exiting the circuit. Due to the high speed and an embankment that served as a ramp, the car broke away from the ground and crashed onto a nearby hill where the public was, mortally hitting the two young people. The two crew members were unharmed. The race has been suspended. An investigation has been opened on the matter.
