Covid, Iss: “Reinfections up slightly to 16.7%”

Sars-CoV-2 reinfections in Italy are slightly increasing. In the last week, the percentage rose to 16.7%, compared to 16.2% in the previous 7 days (data with longer consolidation times). This is highlighted by the extended report of the Higher Institute of Health on ‘Covid-19: surveillance, impact of infections and vaccination efficacy’. From 24 August 2021 to 26 October 2022, the ISS still informs, 1,323,088 cases of Covid reinfection were reported in the country, equal to 7% of the total cases notified in the same period. The percentage of cases reported in the school-age population compared to the rest of the population is stable compared to last week: this share is equal to 6.2%, compared to 6.9% last week, therefore with a very slight deviation. This is highlighted by the extended report of the Higher Institute of Health on ‘Covid-19: surveillance, impact of infections and vaccination efficacy’. In the last week, 17% of school-age cases were diagnosed in children under 5, 34% in the age group 5-11, 49% in the age group 12-19. The incidence rate in all age groups is stable compared to the previous 7 days – notes the ISS – although the data referring to the last week are to be considered in the process of consolidation. Expanding the objective, since the beginning of the epidemic 4,666,041 cases have been diagnosed and reported to the integrated surveillance system in the population from zero to 19 years of age, of which 23,826 hospitalized, 532 hospitalized in intensive care and 75 died.
