Solar time returns to Italy. In the night between Saturday 29 October and Sunday 30 October 2022, we change: we will have to move the hands of the clock one hour back to 3 in the morning. The change will allow you to sleep in the immediate hour more. At the same time, an hour of natural light is lost as we move towards the second part of autumn and then towards the winter season. Standard time will remain in effect until Sunday, March 26, 2023, when daylight saving time is restored. For now, the extension of the summer time for another month – so until late November – remains only a hypothesis. In the proceedings, in a context in which energy costs are a major issue, the appeal in the Lancet Regional Heath Europe magazine by the Italian Society of Environmental Medicine (Sima) and Consumerism No Profit together with representatives of institutions and society civil, accompanied by 58,000 subscriptions of citizens collected in a single week thanks to a petition on the site change.org. In the Sima appeal, Consumerism, experts, representatives of politics, institutions and civil society ask the Government for a temporary suspension of the switch to solar time at least until November 30th.
