Nutrition, at the start ‘immensely’, training to eat well to defeat world hunger ‘

An ‘immensely’ food education training project is underway, indicated among the 17 objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, aimed at children between 0 and 13 years to defeat hunger in the world. It will be discussed in the press room of the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday 25 October at 12 in the presence, among others, of the honorable Chiara Braga; Giuseppe Di Mauro, president of Sipps; Andrea Vania, independent researcher, formerly the Umberto I Polyclinic Pediatric Nutrition Center in Rome; Eliana Avolio, dietician, Municipality II of Rome; Antonella Cristina Venuti, dietician, Municipality II of Rome; lessandro Pirinoli, managing director of Compass Group Italia; Laura Bertola, Compass Group Italia sales manager; Francesca Sorvillo, head of Neways educational projects. By 2030, some 600 million people are expected to still live in poverty. After the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw malnutrition increase by 10% in the world, it was understood that sustainable food systems can make a difference by helping to improve access to quality food, supporting local communities and circular economy, and developing a more equitable use of resources that generates new forms of social and economic well-being. But to respond to these challenges it is essential to involve young people from childhood through wide-ranging food education campaigns. ‘Immensamente’ will therefore be aimed at children and young people in infant, primary and secondary schools of the Municipality II of Rome Capital, for the next 5 school years until 2026-2027, but also to their teachers and to their families, whose structure supports the didactic path of the lessons of Science, Food and Environmental Education and Civic Education, also involving the artistic aspect. Immensamente’s goal is to provide very young students and their parents with the information necessary for a correct, healthy and responsible diet that avoids food waste, which promotes environmental sustainability, social agriculture and multiculturalism through food, but which is also able to develop particular attention to hygiene and good eating habits. All this in a playful way through the totally free distribution of paper and digital teaching materials, participation in meetings organized in schools and the organization of culinary workshops in school canteens. It is immensely promoted by the Municipality of Rome and by Compass Group Italia, a leading company in catering services. The scientific supervision of the contents is carried out by Sipps (Italian Society of Preventive and Social Pediatrics). The initiative is managed by Neways (www.neways.it), a communications company specializing in educational campaigns to raise the awareness of teachers, students and their families on environmental, ethical and social issues, offering schools the opportunity to improve and integrate the training course through the creation of ad hoc content. The Immensamente project (www.immensamente.com) will be presented to the press on Tuesday 25 October 2022, at 12 noon, at the Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies (entrance from Via della Missione, 4), with mandatory accreditation by Monday 24 October, 12 o’clock.
