The Pope proclaimed the beatification of Pope Albino Luciani, the ‘short’ pope who remained on the throne of Peter for only 33 days. The liturgical memorial of the new blessed will be celebrated in the dioceses of the country every 26 August. Also present at the ceremony was the Head of State Sergio Mattarella and, among the many Venetians in the square, the President of the Region Luca Zaia. The miracle attributed to Luciani concerns the healing of Candela Giarda, an Argentine girl suffering from severe encephalopathy healed thanks to the miracle attributed to Albino Luciani. Candela, 11 years old at the time, recovered on 23 July 2011 in Buenos Aires.
