Torrid heat in Rome, icicles and fruit for the animals of the Bioparco

Frozen fruit popsicles made from apples, apricots and watermelon, accompanied by yogurt-filled bamboo sticks. These are the precautions that the zoological and veterinary staff of the Bioparco of Rome is adopting to face the scorching heat of these days. In general, during the summer at the Bioparco an average of 300 kg of vegetables and vegetables, 150 kg of seasonal fruit, mainly watermelons and melons, and over 50 bales of hay and alfalfa are consumed by the animals over a day.
