There are 745 coronavirus infections in Veneto today, May 5, according to data from the region’s bulletin. Since yesterday, another 12 deaths have been recorded, bringing the total to 1,397 since the beginning of the covid-19 emergency. New cases were identified on 36,837 swabs, the positivity index is 2.02%. Overall, 1,336 people are in hospital, -28 compared to yesterday. Patients in intensive care are 173 (-5), those in the non-critical area are 1,163. “The decline of the curve continues, but it is a slow descent”, said the governor Luca Zaia. “The appeal is always the same: we must not let our guard down, we must avoid the risk of gatherings and we must always use the mask, with attention to hand hygiene”, he adds. “If we have confirmation of the doses in the table, we could think of reaching the halfway point before the summer,” he says referring to the vaccination campaign.
