They were preparing entry into Italy for ‘dangerous illegal immigrants’, two arrests

Two men at the top of a transnational organization dedicated to aiding immigration, who were preparing the entry into Italy of ‘dangerous’ illegal immigrants were arrested by the Cagliari police, which also seized a 17-meter sailing ship flying the Dutch flag. The operation, conducted by the Cagliari Flying Squad, was directed by the Cagliari Anti-Mafia District Directorate with the coordination of the National Anti-Mafia Directorate. The execution of the precautionary measures was necessary because the criminal association was organizing an imminent transport on Italian territory of some dangerous migrants of Maghrebi origin. Air and naval units of the Coast Guard were deployed in the operation, under the direction of the National Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (IMRCC) in Rome.The operation will be illustrated today at 11.30 am during a press conference which will be held in the Aula Magna of the Palace of Justice of Cagliari, in the presence of the magistrates of the National Anti-Mafia Directorate and the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Cagliari, who followed the investigation.
