In Lipari a festival-exhibition between art and literature

Back with its second edition, from Saturday 16 July, in the heart of the Mediterranean, Eoliè 22 Umana excellence – Art, literature and society, the festival-exhibition that has chosen the Norman Benedictine cloister of Lipari as a symbolic place to continue traveling, in this complex time, the path of research, reconstruction, transformation started last year, in the name of visual arts, poetry, music. Bringing attention back to the inner breath to rediscover excellence, talent, merit, the three key words that unite and guide the artists who are the protagonists of this second edition: ‘ex-cellere’ bring out one’s own desires, collect and put together the pieces of existence, trying to reassemble the tiles, each of its own mosaic to offer it to the others as a trace of a possible path to be followed together. The columns and imaginative capitals of the cloister rebuilt, around the year one thousand after the invasion of the Turks, putting together all the pieces, the debris, the ruins and the objects abandoned and destroyed on the island will host, until August 16, the works by the sculptor of the angels Ernesto Lamagna, Irene Lanza and her fragments from the sea, the nostalgia for the origins of the installation by Guido Airoldi, the powerful light and the spell of reality in Davide Frisoni’s paintings, the soft amphorae emerged from the abyss of Alessandro La Motta, the amazement for the animal world and its colors in the large canvases by Valentina De Martini, the magnetic and forceful sculptures of Francesco Pessina, all the colors and smells of Sicily in the ceramics of Nicolò Morales. Appointment Saturday 16 July, at 7 pm in the Norman Benedictine Cloister – Cathedral of San Bartolomeo, Acropolis of Lipari, for the vernissage that opens with “The dialogues of Eolié 2022 – Human Excellence”: the curator Francesco Malfitano meets, in a path of interviews, the poet and writer Davide Rondoni on a journey in the company of Dante, Pier Paolo Pasolini, in the year of the centenary of his birth, and an unpublished poetic text, written for the occasion, which traces the difference between excellence and merit, fame and eternal; Carmelo Travia – nominated for the David di Donatello 2022 for the song “Just you”, co-written with Giuliano Taviani, soundtrack of the film “L’arminuta” – presents in the world premiere an original theme composed for Eoliè 22; the singer, actress and researcher Miriam Palma talks about the power of the voice through a very refined singing performance, the result of long years of research, study and experimentation that make her one of the greatest performers on the national scene; Dario Sangiolo, Professor of Medical Oncology, Oncology Department of the University of Turin, will speak about the research group, of which he is responsible, which is working on the definition of “immunotherapy strategies for the treatment of tumors” to train the immune system to recognize and kill tumors. An event strongly desired by its curator, Francesco Malfitano, a lawyer passionate about art, Liparot, Roman by adoption, who explains “This year we have been awakened by a war that is close and never remotely feared, which brings us back to the crudest reality, which we hoped not to know, and which instead, cyclically, reappears; a war that first of all asks the West to rediscover its own cultural identity, to make it available to all in order to be able to dialogue and build bridges. We believe that letting ourselves be provoked by the theme of talent, merit, excellence can stimulate a process of knowledge, grant us a start to restart, drive our noblest desires, indicate a new path guided by the visionary nature of our artists, poets, musicians … ». The works on display at” Eoliè 2022 – Human excellence, Art, literature and society “The sculptor of the angels Ernesto Lamagna presents his” Ecce Mater Dulcissima “and with Christ (made for the 25 years of the Pontificate of John Paul II) which deals with the theme of Mary, the theme of yes: a Madonna made with the features of Ernesto’s mother, forced for nine long years in a wheelchair, ill with Alzheimer’s, defenseless as a child, in need of everything … In front of a Christ Irene Lanza, strombolan, osteopath, visionary, exhibits of her her fragments of the sea, enigmatic and horrid randomness, to which she has given back a form, a vision of the whole. Her works are born from her almost maniacal passion to collect pieces brought and transformed by the sea. Guido Airoldi, winner of two special prizes at the IV Arte Laguna Prize, finalist at the Arteam Cup award in 2016, 2018 and 2020 and at Optima Prize, takes care of these wrecks and transforming them gives them new life. 2018, brings to Eoliè 2022 his installation of house-shaped sculptures “Heimat”, which represents the hidden desire that each of us has, to return to the home, to that place where the affections, the memories, the healthy one are left nostalgia, restlessness that permeates our life. These “houses” essential in the forms, ancestral and almost archetypal, are made with wood and covered with circus poster papers. The houses, the roots and the past are reflected and aspire to a transcendent reality. And then Davide Frisoni, from Rimini, that with the powerful light of his paintings accentuates the spell of reality; intense vibrations that reveal subtle correspondences between life and moods, between finite and Infinite, and thus also the urban landscape, already seen by many, through his works made of wet cities, human figures, traffic lights, street lamps, opens wide to a reality and everyday life more exciting than any fantasy. Alessandro La Motta, Sicilian at heart, and Rimini by adoption, invites us to a dialogue between present and past, with his soft amphorae emerged from the abyss, and with the Mediterranean Sea inside, where Zefiro seems to blow. Valentina De Martini captures the visitor with its colors and the dimensions of its canvases – Deep Water 3 and 4, Zebra and Giraffe – in an extraordinary journey full of attention and amazement towards an animal world that observes and accompanies us, but above all that asks for care Francesco Pessina, creator of the Filicudi Biennale, the island where he now lives and works, let himself be infected by the strong and primitive beauties of the island, thus shaping his sculptures, magnetic and full of strength. In the Norman Benedictine cloister on display five sculptures from the “Homo” series. Nicolò Morales, the ceramist from Caltagirone who made color blindness an opportunity, managing to achieve unique and seductive results in his art. Master in the working of ceramics, through an almost obstinate use of color, as he himself declared: “Mine are not colors, but reactions, behaviors”.
