Marmolada, a week ago the collapse: the final balance does not stop research

Exactly one week after the avalanche that overwhelmed and killed 11 climbers on the Marmolada, the balance is final but the searches continue, as will happen in the next few days, in search of finds and equipment. From today, three teams, 21 rescuers, will be at work in the lower part of the ice and rock flow, acting on three different areas. Drones are also at work. It is intended to accelerate to allow the Trento prosecutor’s office to authorize the delivery of the bodies to family members for the funeral. On Monday he will meet the scientists: glaciologists and hydraulic engineers will have the task of verifying the state of the glacier and the stagnation of the mass of water created by the high temperatures (on Sunday at the top of the Marmolada it was over 10 degrees). The inspections by the experts will help to understand if the sudden collapse of the terminal serac of the glacier of the Queen of the Dolomites could have been foreseen.
