Marmolada collapse, missing searches continue unabated

The search for missing persons continues unabated after the ice avalanche that broke away from the top of the Marmolada on Sunday 3 July. Rescuers have been at work since dawn when low temperatures increase safety: a dangerous operation due to the risk of new detachments. If until now we had proceeded using drones, today 14 joint operators, including two canine units, closely patrol the pile of debris. A helicopter accompanies the operators who are lowered and move while remaining harnessed with the winch to the aircraft in the air. A feature that adds security if it is necessary to evacuate the area immediately. The drone search is not interrupted because the discovery yesterday of two other bodies shows how effective it is still. The list of victims has risen to 9, certain the identity of four victims (Paolo Dani, Filippo Bari, Davide Carollo and Liliana Bertoldo) to which must be added two hikers from the Czech Republic. Three still unnamed bodies and officially five the missing (Emanuela and Piran and Gianmarco Gallina, Davide Miotti and Erica Campagnaro, 22-year-old Nicolò Zavatta) since there is still no certainty that the bodies found belong to any of them. Seven wounded are hospitalized in Trento and other hospitals.
