Monza, barricades himself at home and sets fire to: terror in a condominium

Moments of fear in a condominium in Macherio, in the province of Monza, where a 33-year-old of Albanian origin barricaded himself inside, shouting that he had set the apartment on fire with petrol and wanted to kill everyone. The events occurred around 12 yesterday, when the residents alerted the Operational Center of the Monza Company, reporting a strong smell of smoke coming from an apartment. Immediately on the spot, the carabinieri of the Biassono station found the door barred by the man who, after being convinced to open, resisted in an attempt to escape, attacking the operatives with kicks and punches, until he was blocked after a long scuffle. Later the military, using the building’s fire extinguishers, managed to extinguish the fire before it spread to other houses and to accompany the condominiums (about twenty families) outside. The Fire Brigade then definitively put out the flames which, by now, had completely destroyed the apartment. The man was arrested red-handed on charges of fire, violence and resistance to a public official. Further investigations are underway on the causes that prompted him to act while the house was seized. After the intervention, two carabinieri were transported to the San Gerardo hospital in Monza due to the fumes they breathed. The Judicial Authority, in the course of the direct rite, validated the arrest and applied pre-trial detention in prison.
