A charity event dedicated to the Lega del Filo d’Oro, one of the most active realities in helping the disabled, the deaf-blind in particular, and together with the recognition of three women, who have distinguished themselves as excellence in the medical field. To be awarded, with the recognition created in 2019 by the editorial staff of the online newspaper www.atuttamamma.net, will be three primary, who have led the fight against Covid in western Sicily: Professor Claudia Colomba, pediatrician, infectious disease specialist and primary at Di Cristina- of the Children of Palermo, Dr. Chiara Iaria, infectious disease specialist and primary at the Civic Hospital of Palermo and Dr. Tiziana Maniscalchi, emergency doctor and primary at the Emergency Department of the Cervello hospital in Palermo. Symbolically, with the three doctors, the departments they direct will also be rewarded. “A special prize was awarded to the Adnkronos journalist Elvira Terranova, for her tireless work in the field, carried out even in the most difficult periods of the pandemic”, reads a statement. The charity event will have its center with the presentation of the book “A man, a doctor”, by professor Giuseppe Iacono and journalist Maristella Panepinto, Navarre publisher. The book is the fictionalized biography of the famous gastroenterologist Iacono, an international pioneer in research on food intolerances and allergies. The doctor is very close to the Lega del Filo d’Oro and has always been involved in charity campaigns. Doctor Rossano Bartoli, national president of the Lega del Filo d’Oro and editor of the preface of the book, will be present for the occasion. Doctor Iwona Kazmierska, neonatologist and pediatrician and Professor Alberto Maringhini, head of the Internal Medicine department of the Palermo Civic Hospital will speak. The monumental courtyard of the Rosolino Pilo army barracks, in Palazzo Sclafani, will host the event. The event is sponsored by the Italian Red Cross, which will be present with a representation of volunteers. The proceeds from the sales of the book Un uomo, un medico, will go entirely to the Lega del Filo d’Oro. The three doctors will be awarded the prize by Division General Maurizio Angelo Scardino, commander of the Army in Sicily, doctor Rossano Bartoli, national president of the Lega del Filo d’Oro and Professor Giuseppe Iacono, pediatrician, gastroenterologist and former head physician at Di Cristina in Palermo.
