Record heat in Sicily, in Syracuse reached 48.8 degrees

Hot record in Italy today, especially in Sicily. In Syracuse, near the town of Floridia, the thermometer reported 48.8 degrees. The data is reported by the Sias (Sicilian Agrometeorological Information Service): this is the highest temperature ever recorded in Europe. The Syracuse record will have to be confirmed by the World Meteorological Organization.
