Net increase in hospitalizations for Covid in pediatric age: while remaining limited, they have more than doubled. This is what emerges from the weekly survey – from 14 to 21 June – in the 4 sentinel hospitals and in the pediatric wards belonging to the network of the Italian Federation of health and hospital companies (Fiaso). Patients are mostly very young children (infants between 0 and 6 months which in a week have almost tripled from 5 to 14 patients), towards whom prudent attitudes can facilitate the recourse to hospitalization, indicates Fiaso specifying that an increase circulation of the virus can cause this phenomenon, without an underlying increase in the severity of the syndromes. For the first time in 5 weeks, there is a hospitalization in intensive care ‘for Covid’: it is a child of the 5-11 class without comorbidities. There are also two hospitalizations ‘with Covid’ in intensive care, one under 6 months of age and the other in the 12-18 class not vaccinated.
