CSM, colleges ready for professional elections: plenum approves a favorable opinion on a ministerial decree

Favorable opinion of the High Council of the Judiciary on the definition of the colleges for the next elections of the robots, to be held in September, provided for by the scheme sent by the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia, on the basis of the changes introduced by the law, which has just entered into force. The plenum in fact approved by a large majority the resolution of the sixth commission on the ministerial decree: 21 votes in favor, 3 against, of the independent officers Sebastiano Ardita and Nino Di Matteo and of the layman of the Lega Stefano Cavanna, and the abstention of Fulvio Gigliotti, lay M5S. The scheme of the decree, which arrived yesterday at Palazzo dei Marescialli, with the request to the CSM to express itself, provides for a single national college for the election of two magistrates who exercise the functions of legitimacy, two colleges to elect the 5 pm, and 4 for the 13 judges of merit. In the decree, the approved resolution points out, the criteria established by the new law relating to both the numerical consistency of the colleges, composed of an almost equivalent number of magistrates, and the territorial continuity between the districts included in the individual colleges are respected. Therefore the scheme “respects the criteria of the tendential equivalence of the number of voters and the territorial continuity of the merged districts”.
