The cold polar air of Scandinavian extraction, directly from Sweden, has crossed the continent and is entering through the Bora Gate with fresh and downpour winds. Temperatures for tomorrow are expected to be ‘autumn’ in the North with highs around 18/20 ° C. Incredible to think that these same values would be lower than this morning’s lows. In the Center and in the South the cold air will arrive more calmly, however a sharp drop in temperatures is expected even in these areas of Italy after the heat records of the last few days. At the end of the weekend we will be fresher everywhere, but beware of the downside. Mattia Gussoni, Meteorologist of the site iLMeteo.it, calls for caution as the clash between the polar air and the heat brought by Hannibal could cause intense patchy storms with the possibility of hailstorms. At the moment the cold front is entering from the Porta della Bora so the showers will move in retrograde motion from Friuli Venezia Giulia to Piedmont, and then spread to the central regions as well. Strong winds are expected from the northern and eastern quadrants, winds that will bring the Scandinavian air mass over Italy: obviously these currents crossing Germany, Austria and Slovenia have warmed up in part, but will still cause a temperature drop of about 10-14 ° C. The downside, as mentioned, will consist in the strong instability caused by the raising of hot air by the cold Viking tongue, heavier cold air that will flow under the red-hot hood of Hannibal: in other words, in the next temporal hours from the North-East to the North-West and the central regions, an intense phase disturbed even during the night and residual showers tomorrow in the Center, in a decidedly variable context and with large spells. Another disturbance will arrive in the South, the ‘Sardinian vortex’ which, after having brought bad weather to the Nuraghi Island, will cause thunderstorms in Sicily and then in Calabria, locally intense; later, even in the south, the Viking breath will bring a drop in temperatures. All this gigantic work of the ‘Vikings’ to finally bring some refreshment that from next week the dream will vanish: the comeback of a new African anticyclone is expected that it could be even more intense than Hannibal. As if to say, this year the meridian track of currents is very active, polar descents alternate with sub-Saharan ascents; unfortunately it seems that the latter will dominate on the horizon for next summer. The umbrella season of 2022 should be pretty hot according to the latest model projections, let’s get ready for frequent warm-ups by the ‘North African Camel’, let’s enjoy this cool autumn weekend break, it could be the last for many weeks. In the North: storms coming in from the Triveneto extending towards the West, strong wind. Center: scattered clouds with local showers. In the South: worsening starting from Sicily towards the East. Sunday 29. In the North: many clouds, less rain, but with decidedly low temperatures for the period; strong wind. Center: unstable with frequent showers alternating with bright spells, dry in Sardinia; thermal drop. In the South: unstable with frequent showers, temperature drop. Monday 30. In the North: sunny, but with some scattered showers; fresh. Middle: improvement but with some downsides, fresh. In the South: improvement, fresh. Trend. Return of the North African heat from Wednesday 1 June with maximums gradually increasing to very high values, peaks of 37-39 ° C.
