Smallpox monkeys, two new cases in Lombardy

Two new positive monkeypox cases have been identified in Lombardy. This was announced by the Welfare Department. The first patient was diagnosed positive by S. Raffaele in Milan with the support of Asst Sacco, the second by the hospital in Verona. Both cases are attributable to international clusters. Both patients are now in isolation at their home, under observation and in stable conditions of no concern. Read also This is the third case found in Lombardy. The first dates back to yesterday. The confirmation of the infection was from the Sacco hospital in Milan, a national reference center for infectious disease emergencies together with the Spallanzani in Rome. Also in this case the patient is substantially well.The strain is not autochthonous, but comes from abroad and could be related to the outbreaks that are occurring in other European countries such as Germany, Portugal and Spain (Canary Islands). As per procedure, contact tracing was immediately activated and any close contacts are being reconstructed, the number of which is not known at the moment. Again according to what is learned, the person would have returned from a trip and is currently under observation.
