In Agnone (Isernia) a 52-year-old who had set flames in a wooded area was arrested in flagrant for a forest fire, causing a fire that had spread for about one hectare, reaching the homes. The man, who had tried in vain to escape, was found by the military with traces of soot and in possession of two lighters. He had already been arrested in the past for setting fire to 30 hectares of forest in the same area. In Troina (Enna) the carabinieri arrested two arsonists intent on setting the flames in the area of the Nebrodi Mountains. A protected wooded area in the natural park had been identified as the target of fires by an 80-year-old originally from Cesarò burdened by precedents and a 25-year-old Albanian, both farmers. The carabinieri caught them setting fire and blocked them after an escape: they were found with some primers, small canisters containing fuel and various lighters. Already in the previous days the carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Enna had arrested, in execution of a precautionary measure, another arsonist who had set flames in the territory of Valguarnera. In Asciano (Siena) the person responsible for a fire that broke out in recent days was identified and reported for culpable fire. Since the reconstruction of the forest police, the man was at work on a construction site for the renovation of a farm and has burned residues related to the work.
