Fires, flames in Abruzzo: fires in Pescara and on the Costa dei Trabocchi

A fire of vast proportions developed in the early afternoon in Pescara, in the south of the city, between the Vallelunga ditch, via Scarfoglio and via Terra Vergine. The flames, fueled by the strong wind, are spreading rapidly and threaten the many houses in the area. The news was given by ‘Abruzzolive.it’. The Fire Brigade is in action, even with the helicopter. “Frightening scenes are those that are being seen on the beach of Francavilla al Mare, on the border with Pescara. An enormous black cloud is rising towards the sea, due to a fire that has developed in the Pineta”. Hell of fire also on the Costa dei Trabocchi, with the devastated territory of Rocca San Giovanni (Ch). The pine forest of Vallevò was incinerated. Smoke and very high flames developed, starting from 2.30 pm, on a front of kilometers, both towards San Vito and towards Fossacesia. “A disaster – says the mayor of Rocca San Giovanni, Gianni Di Rito immediately rushed to the spot – Nothing is left of the pinetina and the flames have reached the houses of the seaside village of Vallevò”, where many have been forced to leave the houses, which have been evacuated. Large fire also in Farindola, not far from what used to be the Rigopiano hotel. Some families have been evacuated from their homes.
