Mattarella writes to Letizia Battaglia’s daughters: “I remember moved”

Among the many attestations of esteem received by the daughters of Letizia Battaglia, the Palermo photojournalist who died a few days ago at the age of 87, there is also a message of solidarity and closeness sent by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to his daughters Cinzia, Shobha and Patrizia. The head of state writes to them to “remember with emotion the figure of their mother”. The great photojournalist is also famous for the shot of the 1980 epiphany, when she managed to seize the moment in which the future President of the Republic rescued her brother Piersanti in the car where he had just been mortally wounded.
