August weather, holidays at risk? What awaits us

After a hectic first half of summer, what will the weather be like in August? Super heat, sun, storms, hailstorms: what should those who go on vacation expect? In recent days, iLMeteo.it points out, we have witnessed an alternation between heat waves arriving from the heart of Africa (Sahara Desert), with peaks ready to splash well over 38 ° C (up to over 43 ° C) and Atlantic depression fronts responsible for dangerous storm breaks. The causes are to be found in the particular synoptic structure that has repeatedly characterized the European chessboard. On the one hand we have a rather lively flow of Atlantic currents capable of driving cyclonic vortices, filled with fresh and unstable air, towards the heart of the continent, at low latitudes the infamous African anticyclone dominates which continues to send very hot and humid flashes on the Mediterranean basin. In particular, the Northern regions found themselves in a sort of “confluence zone” in which these important meteorological figures interact. It is in this “no man’s land” that the greatest and most dangerous contrasts occur: with all this excess heat, the risk of extreme weather events such as storms and the terrifying hailstorms of recent weeks also increases. Something about the climate has changed and for this reason we are facing the fury of nature. The weather forecast for August Already in the course of next week, the first of August, the repeated entry of fresh air at high altitudes will cause a sharp worsening of the weather conditions, especially in the North, with the real risk of storms and hailstorms. Different speech, however, on the rest of the country where the infamous African anticyclone has no intention of retreating and indeed continues to send very hot and humid flashes on the Mediterranean basin. In other words, we will find ourselves with an Italy literally split in two from a meteorological point of view, along the lines of what we have already seen in the first part of the season. Finally, for the second part of the month, we can only give a general trend for now given the still high distance. The thermal values ​​could rise again, especially in the Center-South and on the two major islands, thanks to a new inexorable advance of the subtropical high pressure that pilots hot currents from the interior of the Sahara to the Mediterranean basin. where there are no such big jolts compared to the reference climatic averages: warm yes then, but nothing exaggerated.
