G8 Genoa, policeman Cenni: “Diaz was a horror, but justice was not done”

“There is still a bitter taste in the mouth for what happened, because justice has not been done”. To tell AdnKronos it is Angelo Cenni, one of the seven foremen of the VII Nucleo of the Mobile Department of Rome convicted for the facts of the Diaz school. “There is a book – Cenni observes – entitled ‘G8, trial to trial’, written by Roberto Schena. And there there are some beautiful truths that emerged from the trial papers, papers which, however, have never been taken into account in the sentences issued. There are managers who have never been searched despite the fact that all the documentation was already there to be able to identify them with names and surnames. But in fact only the seven of us were sentenced ”. Michelangelo Fournier, at the time deputy assistant superintendent of the First Mobile Department of Rome commanded by Vincenzo Canterini, defined the facts of the Diaz school as ‘Mexican butcher’. “A butcher’s shop that could have been avoided if only we had been inside that school – Cenni underlines -, but in fact there were hundreds of other policemen never summoned, nor was a serious investigation ever carried out to find what have they done. The sentences take note of their presence, but they have never been investigated “. Genoa, continues Cenni, “was destroyed, everything is documented, but this does not justify what happened at Diaz, it cannot justify it, but it would be necessary to find the real perpetrators, who have never been found after 20 years. Prosecutor Zucca also declared that the real perpetrators are at the top ”. Of one thing Cenni says he is certain: “If today I met the victims of the Diaz school, I would tell them that that was a real horror, but not done by us. Although the trial tells another truth, the facts have never been investigated. We are not the authors of that horror, of what happened. And the oddity of this whole thing is that they only found seven people out of nearly 400. It’s mind-boggling. Yet we have only done our duty ”.
