Lazio, a law for creative businesses, is the driving force of the economy

Culture and creativity are the engines of the economic development of the territory. A constant and determined commitment by the Lazio Region towards all those activities that are based on cultural values ​​or artistic expressions and which bring together several sectors: from design to architecture, from theater to cinema, up to fashion and much more. “Their added value is significant: in Lazio alone it is almost 15 billion euros”, explains Marta Leonori, leader of the Democratic Party in the Regional Council and first signatory of the bill n. 247 concerning the ‘provisions in favor of the creative industries’, presented to the Economic Development Commission of Pisana at the beginning of June, together with his colleague Enrico Forte (Pd). The text consists of 15 articles and recognizes the creative industries as one of the phenomena of territorial policies of our time. “The creative industries – underlines Leonori at Adnkronos – represent a sector that, in a short time, has managed to create an economic category of its own that has about 1.5 million employees throughout Italy. The law I presented, which collects the work done in the last legislature by Gian Paolo Manzella, wants to give greater strength and the possibility of development to this sector, through access to credit, the strengthening of collaboration with companies in traditional sectors but also through creative vouchers and the creation of new places for creativity “. Marietta Tidei, regional councilor of Italia Viva and president of the economic development commission of the Lazio Regional Council, also highlights the data that photograph the immense regional heritage. “The added value linked to creativitỳ in Lazio was almost 14.9 billion in 2018, with 212 thousand employees – underlines Adnkronos – Rome in particular, thanks above all to cinema and audiovisual, is the first province of Lazio, second throughout Italy in terms of added value and third in terms of employment. Undoubtedly, also considering the strong growth of the sector in recent years, for Leonori “the creative industries, which still have ample room for development, can help the post-pandemic economic recovery. This is why I believe it is important to support them and strengthen the dialogue between the creative sector and the traditional sector “. Some perplexities, however, expressed by the FdI regional councilor Massimiliano Maselli, vice-president of the Economic Development Commission of Pisana.” This bill certainly has the merit of provide the Lazio Region with an ad hoc regulatory system – he explains to Adnkronos – but I see no other objectives than this, since the creative industries are already supported economically, also through European funding.
