Covid cases attributable to the Delta variant of the coronavirus have almost quadrupled in less than a month in Great Britain. 161,981 cases have been identified so far in the country, 46% of which were registered in the last week. In Britain, the variant sequenced for the first time in India is now responsible for 95 per cent of cases. “Even if the infections are increasing, we are not seeing a proportional increase in hospitalizations. The data confirm the success of the vaccination campaign conducted so far and clearly demonstrate the importance of receiving both doses of the vaccine,” said Jenny Harries. head of the UK Health Security Agency.
