Ukraine, the prayer vigil for peace in Trastevere

“Peace to Ukraine for now and forever”. Thus Andrea Riccardi, founder of Sant’Egidio, at the end of the preaching in the basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere where the prayer vigil was held tonight, promoted by the Community after the first bombings in Ukraine. Hundreds of people came for the moment of prayer (the church has reached the maximum capacity, always with respect for distancing). Present some parliamentarians, the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi and the former Minister Graziano Delrio. Also present were the representatives of the embassies to the Holy See of Ukraine, the United States, England, France, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Holland and the European Union. The prayer vigil was followed via streaming by thousands of people in all the countries of the world where the community of Sant’Egidio is present.
