Oper false authenticated, Sgarbi acquitted

No place to proceed for Vittorio Sgarbi, accused by the Rome prosecutor of having authenticated false works of art attributed to the Ancona artist Gino De Dominicis, who died in 1998. This was decided by the gup of Rome Angela Gerardi who dropped the charges with the formula “because the fact does not constitute a crime”, for the art critic and for Duccio Trombadori. On the other hand, 19 other people were sent to trial for whom the trial will begin on December 21st. Sgarbi had ended up in the register of suspects, as at the time he was president of the Gino De Dominicis Archive Foundation. During the investigations, in 2018, the Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage seized over 250 works deemed to be counterfeit (for a value of over 30 million euros).
