Greece ferry fire, one of the missing passengers found alive

One of the missing passengers was found alive on board the Grimaldi Lines ferry which caught fire on Friday. The survivor is of Belarusian origin and was in the stern of the ship. The Greek TV Skai reports this and publishes the photo of the man as he descends from the ferry steps. Read also Meanwhile the fear of an environmental disaster is growing. The Ram, marine environmental department of the Coast Guard, on behalf of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, is carefully monitoring the situation off the Albanian coast. On board the ferry it is estimated that there are 800 cubic meters of fuel for propulsion and 23 tons of corrosive dangerous goods. Following an overflight already carried out by the Atr aircraft of the Italian Coast Guard, a possible spill was ascertained. The Ministry of Ecological Transition has prepared, for the eventual support to foreign authorities, a vehicle of the Company of the Italian national anti-pollution service (Supply Vessel “Ievoli white”), located at the port of Bari. In the area, however, also the ship Eighteen of the Coast Guard arrived on site, equipped with anti-pollution devices and with a technical team on board made up of an Ispra expert and two officers from the Marine Environmental Department. Minister Cingolani is following every phase of the affair, constantly informed by the Ram.
