Lampedusa, this is what the Favaloro pier looks like after the disembarkation of over a thousand migrants in a few hours. The hotspot is collapsing. The transfer of about 500 migrants of the more than 732 migrants who are on the pier was arranged in the early afternoon. Some of them, who arrived in the past few hours, spent the night in the open. The priority, as explained by the Prefecture of Agrigento, is given to vulnerable people, women and children. In the late afternoon, however, the firefighters set up a tent to shelter those who cannot find a place in the hotspot in the Imbriacola district, under pressure after yesterday’s flurry of arrivals. Meanwhile, the transfer machine has been in action since this morning: 200 migrants were boarded on the scheduled ferry to Porto Empedocle, another 317 on the quarantine ship Splendid. The second ship, the Azzurra, arrived this morning on the largest of the Pelagie Islands due to poor sea conditions and was unable to dock. Meanwhile, this morning, after the first two landings recorded, starting from midnight on the island, with 101 migrants, including 10 women and 3 children, and 95 people, including 2 women and 5 children, a third landing was registered: 97 migrants, including 4 women and two minors.
