Death Michele Merlo, for Nas “symptoms treated superficially, treatments compromised”

Death of Michele Merlo, according to the Corriere del Veneto, there are two doctors in the crosshairs of the Nas for the investigation into the death of the singer and former competitor of Amici and X Factor. It would be the young man’s general practitioner and a doctor from the Continuity of care of Vergato, in Emilia. For the death of Merlo, who passed away at the age of 28 last June 6 in Bologna due to a fulminant leukemia, however, only the general practitioner is currently being investigated. According to the Corriere del Veneto, for the Nas “evident responsibility” of the two doctors would emerge, because “by superficially treating the symptoms suggestive of leukemia, they delayed the diagnosis, compromising the outcome of the treatments”. In particular, in an information from the carabinieri of last June 17 – the Corriere del Veneto still reports -, it is read that one of the two doctors would have evaluated the large hematoma that appeared on the young man’s body “without further investigating with the necessary diagnostic investigations”, thus treating it “as a simple muscle tear, without taking into account that the young man was walking without any problem despite the vastness of the hematoma must have led to suppose a particularly painful tear”. But the leaders of the Veneto healthcare facility Azienda Zero relieved the doctor of responsibility, denying there was any negligence on the part of the doctor “especially considering that Mr. Merlo did not show up for the suggested check-up”. The other doctor, on the other hand, is as reported by the newspaper, he was diagnosed with tonsillitis during another check-up, but “the inspection of the oral cavity and auscultation should have pointed out Michele’s general condition, which on that date was certainly already serious”.
