Covid cases in Italian prisons are still on the rise, reaching record figures compared to the past few weeks. Positive detainees are 2,625 (of which 36 new arrivals), out of a total of 53,669 presences, while cases are 1,572 among the 36,939 prison policemen on duty. The data, updated last night, are contained in the weekly report published on the website of the Ministry of Justice. Last week the cases were 1532 among the detainees, out of a population 53,561 units, and 1426 among the officers. Among the positive inmates, 2,586 are asymptomatic, 25 have symptoms and are managed within institutions and 14 are hospitalized. 1,547 policemen are asymptomatic in home isolation, 20 are hospitalized in the barracks and 5 are hospitalized. Finally, seventy-four are the positives among the 4,021 personnel of the prison administration, all in home isolation, while last week they were 70. Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign continues. The vaccine doses administered to prisoners have exceeded 100 thousand: they are 100,106.
