Cultural property, heritage theft: 5 arrests

The Carabinieri of the Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (Tpc) – Nucleo of Bologna – between Bologna, Brescia, Naples, Casandrino (Naples), Castrezzato (Brescia) and Grana (Asti), assisted by those of the Tpc Nuclei of Naples, Monza , Turin, Venice and the Territorial Arma, have carried out an order for the application of the measure of precautionary custody in prison against 5 people, under investigation, for various reasons, for multiple stealth actions committed against the cultural heritage. This was communicated by the soldiers of the Arma themselves, underlining that the measures stem from the outcome of a long and complex investigative activity, carried out by the Carabinieri of the Tpc Nucleus of Bologna and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Bologna “aimed at contrasting the thefts to the detriment of cultural heritage committed within commercial businesses in the sector, noble villas, museums, places of worship and private homes in general, and the related illicit marketing of stolen art assets also through compliant dealers, actions completed especially between Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Piedmont and Marche from September 2017 until the end of 2018 “.
