Cassation, CSM commission proposes reconfirmation as President Curzio and Deputy Cassano

Confirm in their positions the president of the Court of Cassation, Pietro Curzio, and the adjunct Margherita Cassano, whose appointments were canceled by the Council of State which accepted the appeal of Angelo Spirito, one of the excluded candidates. This is what the fifth commission of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, which met this afternoon, is proposing. The reconfirmation proposal was approved by a majority with 4 yes and 2 abstentions. The president of the commission voted in favor, the independent magistrate Antonio D’Amato, the laity Fulvio Gigliotti (M5S) and Alessio Lanzi (Fi), the area robber Alessandra Dal Moro. Sebastiano Ardita (Autonomy & Independence) and Michele Ciambellini (Unicost) abstained. The resolution should arrive in plenum on Wednesday or Thursday. This would allow the reconfirmation of the Supreme Court leaders before the ceremony on Friday for the inauguration of the judicial year, during which the report of the first president Curzio is expected. The commission chose reconfirmation through a rewrite of the reasons for the appointments, on which the findings of the Council of State had concentrated.
