Accident A1, LPG tanker fire: 2 dead

Two deaths on the A1 between Piacenza sud and Fiorenzuola: after an accident involving a car and two trucks, one of the two vehicles, a tanker transporting LPG, burned down. At the moment, Autostrade per l’Italia reports, the Milan-Naples motorway remains closed in the section between Piacenza sud and Fiorenzuola in both directions to allow the fire to be resolved. At the site of the accident, which took place at km 66, a safety area was created by the fire brigade to extinguish the fire that broke out from the tank. At 12:30 there were 4 km of queue in a southerly direction and 5 km of queue in a northerly direction, within the blocked traffic; while there are 9 kilometers of queue at the mandatory exit of Piacenza sud in the direction of Bologna and 3 kilometers at the height of the Fiorenzuola exit in the direction of Milan. The distribution of water bottles to users in the queue is underway by the staff of the Milan section of Autostrade per l’Italia. For users heading towards Bologna Autostrade, we recommend that you exit at Piacenza sud and return to Fiorenzuola after having traveled the SS 9 Emilia and the reverse route for those heading to Milan. For long journeys, which go from Bologna to Milan, it is advisable to take the A22 and reach the Lombard capital via the A4 or alternatively to take the A13 from Bologna and reach Milan again via the A4.
