Covid Milan today, primary: “In intensive care 80% no-vax”

“We have 255 patients hospitalized in intensive care, 80% are no vax while outside the intensive care units 50-60% of the beds are occupied by no vax patients”. To tell Adnkronos this is Davide Chiumello, intensive care director of the San Paolo hospital in Milan and director of the critical area department of the Asst Santi Paolo e Carlo in Milan. The situation at the San Paolo, remarked Chiumello, “is not dramatic”. The number of accesses to the emergency room “has remained stable over the last three days and there are currently 15 Covid patients and about forty non-Covid patients with low intensity of care – he continues -. Today the collapse of hospitals is no longer risked”. Unvaccinated ICU patients have a mean age of 65 years. “They are reluctant until the end – underlines Chiumello – but then when they have a serious respiratory difficulty they accept the principals, up to intubation. So far no one has refused it”. At this moment, the head physician underlines, “we are witnessing a high level of contagiousness, which is reflected in a high number of visits to the emergency room which are, however, at low intensity, so most of them then go back to their homes”.
