Covid cases in Italian prisons are still on the rise, almost doubled compared to last week. Positive detainees are 1,532 (of which 28 are newcomers), out of a total of 53,561 presences, while cases are 1,426 among the 36,939 prison policemen on duty. The data, updated last night, are contained in the weekly report published on the website of the Ministry of Justice. Last week there were 804 cases among inmates, out of a population of 53,142 units, and 876 among officers. Of the positive inmates, 1,501 are asymptomatic, 20 have symptoms and are managed within institutions, and 11 are hospitalized. 1,404 policemen are asymptomatic in home isolation, 18 are hospitalized in the barracks and 4 are hospitalized. Finally, seventy are the positives among the 4,021 personnel of the prison administration, all in home isolation, while last week they were 48. Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign continues. 97,934 doses of anti covid vaccine administered to prisoners, last week the total administration was 96,604 doses.
