The sentence in the Supreme Court for the maxi trial on the Spada clan slips again. The reading of the device was scheduled for this morning after the hearing that was held on 10 December in front of the supreme judges of the first criminal section but the parties present in the courtroom were informed that due to a problem of a member of the college which must be replaced, therefore, the discussion will have to be renewed. The Court therefore postponed the hearing for discussion to 13 January when the sentence is also awaited. In the hearing of last December 10, the Deputy Attorney General of the Cassation Luigi Birritteri had asked to confirm the mafia-type criminal association for the coastal clan, urging the inadmissibility or rejection of the appeals of the defendants, thus essentially asking for confirmation of the penalties inflicted. The pg had also requested a new Appeal process to recognize the responsibility for the double murder of Carmine Spada who had seen the sentence reduced in the second degree. The maxi trial stems from the investigation of the Dda of Rome, coordinated by magistrates Michele Prestipino with Ilaria Calo ‘and Mario Palazzi, who had led to the “ Eclipse’ ‘operation on January 25, 2018 with the arrests carried out by the carabinieri and agents of the flying squad. The disputed crimes, depending on the position, range from murder to extortion to usury. Among the disputed episodes is the double murder of two members of a rival clan, Giovanni Galleoni known as Baficchio and Francesco Antonini known as ‘Sorcanera’, which took place on November 22, 2011 in the center of Ostia. On 12 January last year, the judges of the First Court of Assizes of Appeal of Rome had confirmed the criminal association of a mafia type and the sentences for the 17 defendants for over 150 years in prison, among these, life imprisonment for Roberto Spada, already sentenced definitively to six years for the publication in Ostia to the journalist Daniele Piervincenzi, and for Ottavio Spada, known as Marco, while the sentence for Carmine Spada had been reduced from life imprisonment to 17 years.
