Lots of rain and snow, the turning point this week

Start of the week with lots of rain and snow down to low altitudes in the Center-South. But, after a few days of very unstable weather, especially in the Center-South, the Azores anticyclone will return to Italy, guaranteeing a more stable time phase for everyone. Antonio Sanò, director and founder of iLMeteo.it announces that today still very capricious weather conditions will be recorded above all in the southern regions and in the central Adriatic sector, where thunderstorms will still be possible, especially on Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria, with snowfall on inland areas starting from 400 meters above sea level. Between afternoon and evening there will be rains also on Campania, Calabria and Sicily accompanied by strong gusts of Tramontana that will exacerbate the feeling of cold even more. Due to the incoming wind and cold, the snow will return to show itself on these areas with flakes up to around 500/700 meters. The weather scenario will instead improve on the northern regions. On Tuesday the instability, increasingly attenuated, will still be the protagonist on Sicily and Calabria and on the central Apennines, while in the North the weather will be stable and sunny, even if very cold especially in the morning and in the evening. Subsequently, the high pressure of the Azores will return to expand throughout Italy, thus opening a phase of stable and mainly sunny weather from North to South; however, it should be noted that night temperatures will remain on rather rigid values ​​with extended night frosts. Today Monday 10 January – In the north: last rainfall in Emilia Romagna, sun prevalent elsewhere. Middle: unstable on the Adriatic regions with snow up to the hills. In the south: widespread, snowy showers from 500 meters. Tuesday 11 January – In the north: prevailing sun. Center: isolated snowfall in the Apennines (Adriatic side). In the south: a bit unstable on Sicily and Calabria. Wednesday 12 January – In the north: good weather. Middle: it gets worse quickly on the Adriatic and then on eastern Sardinia with snow on the hills. In the south: some rains arriving in Sicily, sun elsewhere. From Thursday, stable weather everywhere.
