Here comes the New Year’s Eve, weather forecast for December 31st

An anomalous African anticyclone is arriving for New Year’s Day. In the next few hours the last perturbation of the year 2021 will mainly affect the South, but Stefano Ghetti, meteorologist of the site www.iLMeteo.it warns that on Tuesday 28 the rains will mainly concern the southern regions, they are more consistent between Calabria and Tyrrhenian Sicily, elsewhere the weather will be drier, but the diffuse and often compact cloudiness will prevent the sun from warming the atmosphere. From Wednesday and especially in the following days and even after the New Year, a large anticyclonic field of sub-tropical origin will reach Italy from Africa after also crossing the Iberian Peninsula. High pressure in winter is not always synonymous with good weather and sun, in fact low clouds and fogs will return to the North, as well as in some areas of the Center and locally as well on the southern coasts. On the reliefs and the rest of the sectors, however, the sun will be the only protagonist of the next few days. It is important to know that the African “bubble” at about 1500 meters has a temperature of almost 15 ° C (a rather anomalous value for the end of December), a measure that will be easily reached and even exceeded during the day in the central and southern regions and locally also in the alpine valleys (expected almost 17 ° C in Rome and up to 20-21 ° C in Sardinia and Sicily). In the north, on the other hand, due to either fog or overcast skies, temperatures will not exceed 7-9 ° C. IN DETAIL Tuesday 28.
