Francesco Lo Voi is the new prosecutor of Rome, appointed by a majority of the CSM

Francesco Lo Voi, currently prosecutor of Palermo, is the new head of the Rome prosecutor’s office. He was appointed by the plenum of the High Council of the Judiciary by a large majority, with 19 votes in favor. Lo Voi got the better of the other candidate proposed by the commission, the Florence Attorney General Marcello Viola, who got two votes. There were three abstentions. Lo Voi takes the place of Michele Prestipino, whose appointment, approved by the CSM on March 4, 2020, was canceled by the Council of State which accepted the appeals of two defeated candidates then defeated, Lo Voi and Viola. After the rulings of the administrative judges, the practice on the Rome prosecutor’s office had returned in recent months to the examination of the executive committee.
