Avetrana murder, alleged lies and misdirection: prescription for Michele Misseri

The Taranto branch of the Lecce Court of Appeal ruled on one of the trials arising from the main one concerning the kidnapping and murder of Sarah Scazzi, the 15-year-old from Avetrana, who disappeared on August 26, 2010 and was found lifeless in a well in the countryside on the night between 6 and 7 October. For the uncle of the young woman, Michele Misseri, who responded for self-malignancy, as he was accused of the murder of the 15-year-old, the statute of limitations and therefore the sentence of 4 years of imprisonment imposed on 21 January 2020 by the monochromatic court of the Ionian capital it was cancelled. In the main trial, the one for the kidnapping and the murder, he was sentenced to 8 years only for the suppression of a corpse. The Supreme Court, confirming the previous degrees of trial, had in fact recognized as responsible for the most serious crimes the daughter Sabrina Misseri and his wife Cosima Serrano, who are serving a life sentence in prison. Prescription also for Ivano Russo, the young man who was somehow at the origin of the alleged jealousy or the alleged hatred of Sabrina towards her cousin who would be at the origin of the murder. In the first instance, the single court had sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment for the crimes of false information to the prosecutor and false testimony on the occasion of the depositions at the main trial in the Court of Assizes. Prescription also for Alessio Pisello, a friend of Sabrina, accused of perjury, for Ivano’s mother, Elena Baldari, for Maurizio Misseri, Michele’s nephew, for Anna Lucia Pichierri, Carmine Misseri’s wife, for Claudio Russo, Ivano’s brother. Acquittal and prescription for two offenses attributed to Dora Serrano, sister of Cosima and Concetta, Sarah’s mother. Acquittal for Giuseppe Serrano, another of the brothers, Anna Scredo, the sister-in-law of the florist alleged eyewitness to the kidnapping of Sarah (a later modified version) and Giuseppe Augusto Olivieri.
