“Help, my son is dead”: It is early morning when a 29-year-old from Ferrara calls the carabinieri in a panic. He asks for help, their intervention, for his youngest son – barely a year old – with no life in bed. When the military knocks on the house in via degli Hostaggi, in Ferrara, the woman opens in shock, has her veins cut and there is blood everywhere. At home there are the other two children of the woman, 9 and 5 years old, who would have heard the screams of their mother without fortunately seeing their dead brother. Useless attempts to revive the baby by the 118 health workers who, as well as the coroner, have not noticed any signs of violence on the little body. At the moment no track is excluded, from the murder-attempted suicide to the natural death of the child and the attempted suicide of the mother, now taken to the psychiatry ward of the hospital. The prosecutor, Dr. Busato, will shortly appoint the autopsy that will clarify the causes of death. Meanwhile, the carabinieri are listening to the father of the victim and the other two children, who lives in another house, while the brothers have been entrusted to the grandmother who ran there.
