Operation ‘Marracash’, shot at the shop in the plain of Gioia Tauro

During the night the carabinieri of the Gioia Tauro Company, supported in the executive phase by the Nucleo Cinofili of Vibo Valentia, carried out 8 precautionary measures issued by the Office of the Preliminary Investigations Judge at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Palmi, in confrontations of 6 Italians and 2 Central Africans in the context of the “Marracash” operation to contrast drug dealing in the town of San Ferdinando and within the Ministerial Tent City in the area. The investigation, born at the end of 2019 and ended last summer, originated from the control of an Italian employee at the Port of Gioia Tauro who was selling to several of his fellow citizens from a cottage on the outskirts of San Ferdinando and with two others his friends, one of whom is currently detained following the “Eclipse” operation against the ‘Ndrangheta gangs of San Ferdinando. During the investigation, another Italian woman from San Ferdinando was identified, dedicated to the sale of drugs to residents of San Ferdinando, San Costantino Calabro and Polistena, who obtained supplies from both the port and the San Ferdinando Tent City where she served at the entrance Front Office of the same reception facility.The woman also received the drug from a colleague of hers, a Gambian worker in the collection of waste inside the Tent City itself, the hub of drug dealing both in relation to Africans domiciled there and Italians residing in San Ferdinando. Another Gambian resident in Rosarno supplied the narcotic substance to his compatriot and coordinated the illicit activity in the areas near the tent city itself. Thanks also to the installation of cameras, two other Italians from San Ferdinando were identified, who provided evident support that allowed them to favor the illegal activities of the suspects.
