Milan, drill collapses on Ifom research center: 600 workers evacuated

A drill over 10 meters high hit one of the most populated buildings of the Ifom research institute in Milan. It happened this morning around 10.40. According to reports from the center, more than 300 researchers and employees of the institution “were engaged in the test tubes and in the laboratory” when the drill installed in the external construction site next door, on Via Serio, “collapsed ruinously” on one of the most populated buildings in the ‘Institute, where all staff are currently operational. All the researchers and employees of the Institute and those of the other Institutes present on the same Campus, 600 in all, were promptly evacuated and the police are taking steps to secure the buildings.
