Modena, assault on security carriers on the A1: vehicles on fire and nails in the street

Shortly before 20.30 on the A1 Milan – Naples motorway, the section between Valsamoggia and Modena Sud in both directions was temporarily closed due to an attempted robbery of a security carrier, which took place at km 177. To cover the escape the robbers burned the vehicle and sprinkled the roadway with nails. None of those involved were injured and the fire in the vehicle was extinguished. The necessary relief operations by the Traffic Police and the reclamation of the section are in progress. On site, in addition to the patrols of the Traffic Police, the Fire Brigade, the mechanical rescuers and the staff of the Bologna Trunk Management of Autostrade per l’Italia. At the moment in the affected section there are 4 km of queue towards Milan and 2 km of queue towards Bologna. For users heading towards Milan from Bologna, we recommend that you exit at Valsamoggia, take the Ss9 Via Emilia and return to the A1 at Modena Sud; reverse route for those heading from Milan to Bologna.
