Ustica: the civil party expert Luigi Di Stefano died, the last battle for the Marò family

Luigi Di Stefano died today in Rome, aged 69, who was a civil party expert in the trial on the Ustica massacre, on behalf of the former owner of Itavia, the company to which the DC9 crashed on the evening of 27 belonged. June 1980. The Ustica case, which Di Stefano followed practically all his life without ever ceasing to search for the truth, was the focus of three of his books, “Ustica, quel cursed missile ” (Atlantis, 1990), ” Il Buco. War scenarios in the sky of Ustica ” (Vallecchi, 2005), “Reason and Betrayal. Ustica massacre, forty years of hidden truths “(Altaforte, 2019). There was also another battle that saw Di Stefano at the forefront in recent years, the one to prove the innocence of the two Italian marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, arrested in India for the murder of two fishermen. Precisely on this front, Di Stefano managed to change the case with his research, elaborating a dossier that showed how the fatal blows to the two Indian fishermen had started from a Greek ship, a document that was also deposited at the Court of the Sea in Hamburg. Di Stefano’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 16 June at 11 in the church of Santa Galla in Rome.
