ActionAid and the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Foundation launch “Building Future, Together!”, A project articulated through training and active citizenship courses aimed at involving teachers, educators, parents and young people in curricular and extra-curricular activities. About 9,000 girls and boys between 11 and 19 years old will participate in the project, who will develop their skills through active citizenship activities and training courses, face to face and at a distance, on the issues of orientation to study and work and prevention of gender-based violence. , with a focus on cyberbullying. The initiative also includes training courses for around 500 teachers and educators on the issues of active citizenship and inclusive education. Early school leaving in Italy is an increasingly alarming phenomenon and the latest ISTAT data confirm this. In 2020, the drop out of studies before graduation was 11% in the North, 11.5% in the Center and 16.3% in Southern Italy. The regions that record the highest incidences of dropouts are Sicily, Campania, Calabria and Puglia (respectively 19.4%, 17.3%, 16.6% and 15.6%). The project “Building the Future, together!” of ActionAid and the CDP Foundation provides a program of training meetings focused on six metropolitan areas of the Center-South: Rome, Naples, Bari, Reggio Calabria, Syracuse and Palermo. The activities are carried out in collaboration with a school – as a central development pole – creating a system with a network of institutions and associations in the area that deal with young people. Among the tools made available to explore the issues of active citizenship, inequalities and civic education, the ActionAid portal, Agent 0011 – already operational since 2015, with 5,000 visitors a year and 200 registered class groups – aims to involve young people also through the immersive technology of a serious game (a game designed for educational purposes) dedicated to the project. The “InclusiCity” game will see girls and boys take on the role of the mayor or mayor of a city with the aim of making it inclusive while maintaining a balance between economic sustainability, citizen well-being and respect for the environment. 2 A further key tool of the project is Radio Kivuli – the ActionAid web radio – which will give a voice to all the protagonists of the initiative, thanks to ad hoc workshops on radio methodology and the creation of four dedicated podcasts. As part of the project “Building the Future, together!” A partnership is also envisaged with the Milan Foundation, the public charity linked to the broader context of Responsibility and Sustainability of the AC Milan Group. Thanks to this collaboration, event-days will be held in the cities of Syracuse, Reggio Calabria and Rome, where educators and coaches of the Milan Foundation will offer educational and sports events in which students and teachers will be involved. Finally, a competent voluntary action plan promoted by the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Foundation is envisaged to involve the employees of the CDP Group in tutoring and orientation activities aimed at the students of the project on a wide range of topics, such as sustainability, innovation and digital. “Poverty, inequality and exclusion affect the ability of young people to take part in the life of their communities. With the project “Building the future, Together” we will try to break this circle, creating the conditions so that many boys and girls can rebuild trust and motivation in themselves and meet concrete opportunities for growth, thus returning to be protagonists of their future ” , Katia Scannavini, Deputy Secretary General of ActionAid Italy. “School dropout and educational poverty are phenomena that in our country can compromise the future of many young people, who must not be denied the opportunity to access training courses that help them grow and express their potential. The CDP Foundation is committed, and will be increasingly so also in the coming years, in favoring the concrete implementation of education and training projects, which can contribute to the revival of the economy and generate positive repercussions on the country system “, commented the President of CDP Foundation, Giovanni Gorno Tempini.
