Preparations have begun for the reopening of the hospital at the Milan Fair, set up to deal with the first phase of the pandemic. Lombardy Region, said the president Attilio Fontana, “has taken steps to prepare some modules of the hospital in the Fair, to make them operational in 24/48 hours if the need arises. The hospital, underlined Fontana, represents for the Lombard health system “a lifeboat of fundamental importance, especially to allow other structures to be able to treat non-Covid patients.” The request presented by the Lombardy Region for the moment concerns two modules with 16 beds, therefore for 32 patients, explained the general manager of the Milan Polyclinic, Ezio Belleri. Meanwhile, Lombardy will remain in the white zone again next week, despite the increase in the absolute numbers of hospitalizations and infected people. The progression of infections, however, underlined Fontana, has halved going from 59.2% to 27.4%. “Even more reassuring” is the hospital Rt index, which fell further.
