Omicron variant, ministry to Regions: strengthen tracking

Covid and the South African variant Omicron, the Ministry of Health recommends strengthening and monitoring the tracking and sequencing activities in the case of travelers from countries with diffusion of the Omicron variant and their contacts or in cases of outbreaks characterized by a rapid and anomalous increase in cases, furthermore, promptly and scrupulously apply the quarantine and isolation measures already envisaged following the spread of the Delta variant. The recommendations to the Regions are contained in a circular from the Ministry of Health, signed by the general director of health prevention Giovanni Rezza. In Belgium, a case of Omicron variant SARS-Cov-2 was identified in a young woman who developed symptoms 11 days after traveling to Egypt via Turkey.
